By accessing or using the Chemerty platform (“Service”) at chemerty.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Chemerty. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms.

3. Account registration

To access most features you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and current information during registration;
• Keep your password confidential and not share it with others;
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account;
• Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we believe are being used fraudulently.

4. Free and premium tiers

Chemerty offers a free tier with access to core grade content and features. Premium features may be offered as a paid subscription. Details of what is included in each tier are described on the platform. We reserve the right to change, modify, or discontinue any tier with reasonable notice.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its systems;
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest content from the Service in an automated manner;
• Submit false, misleading, or harmful content;
• Impersonate another person or entity;
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service;
• Use the Service to train or develop competing AI models or datasets.

6. Intellectual property

All content on Chemerty — including curriculum text, problem sets, UI design, and code — is owned by Chemerty or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

Your account data (your answers, scores, and progress) remains yours. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store and display this data to operate the platform.

7. AI-generated content

Chemerty uses AI (OpenAI) to evaluate answers and generate feedback. AI-generated responses may contain errors. They are provided for educational guidance only and should not be relied upon as authoritative academic advice.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Chemerty shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Chemerty and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, losses, damages, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the jurisdiction where Chemerty operates.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
